The Fairbank Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Reserve Officer. Employment applications may be downloaded below. Minimum requirements for reserve officer are the same as Police Officer minus physical fitness and advanced experience in the field.

To qualify for the position of Police Officer, you must:

 - Be a citizen of the United States
 - Be at least 18 years of age
 - Be in good physical and mental health with no disabling physical condition
 - Meet state requirements for vision and hearing
 - Be of good moral character
 - Be able to read and write the English language
 - Be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent
 - Possess a valid Iowa Driver's License
 - Complete and submit law enforcement officer application.
 - Not have been convicted of any felony (high grade misdemeanors may be disqualifying)

Applicants must also successfully:

 - Undergo and pass a background investigation.
 - Pass a reference check
 - Pass a driver's history check
 - Complete a City medical examination

 - Complete physical fitness requirements (except reserve officer applicants)

 - Be fingerprinted and a search initiated of state and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal
   record.

 - Be interviewed by the Chief of Police to determine such things as motivation, appearance, demeanor,
   attitude and ability to communicate.

The most important requirement that is looked of is a genuine interest in law enforcement and the law, as well as a mature and true commitment to working with this Police Department.
